The rules: Write for five minutes. No editing, revising, or over thinking. Just write.
Today’s Topic: Grasp
START
I grasp for ideas on what to write. Why is it so difficult, sometimes, for me to make decisions? I often think that I see too many sides of something to pick between multiple options. I want to participate and become a better writer, but I fear that there is no one topic that I know well enough. I fear that I am not good enough or that my topic won’t be of any interest to anyone else…or even myself.
So I grasp some more. I look through several ideas, thinking that I’ll know when it’s right. Right? I finally come up with a couple of ideas but none really feel right. That’s when I remember how much I enjoy Five Minute Fridays and have even blogged in a similar manner when it’s not a Friday. I pick just one word and write about it. I can do that for 31 days!
Oh, gosh! Can I come up with 31 words for the month in which to blog? It was easier than I expected. It was in my grasp before I even knew it, and I have a few other words on standby in case I’m just not feeling my voice flow into my writing with one or two of my choices.
Won’t you join me in a 31 Day Challenge the month of October to write about a topic every day? If you can’t think of a topic, I’ll be glad to share mine with you. I’ll be writing 31 Days of Journaling Prompts. I have chosen a single word for each day of the month, and at 12:01am Central Time, I will post what the word is and write about that topic. It’s like every day in October will be a Friday…at least as far as blogging goes 🙂

Hi there. Today was my first day on writing for 5 min. Friday and so I am popping over here to your blog to say hi 🙂 Interesting blog project you are doing. I do’t know if I could write 31 days in a row! It would be interesting to see what 31 words you come up with 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend and blessings to you!
Welcome to Five Minute Friday! I have been participating since I first heard about it in the spring. It’s refreshing to have a topic already chosen for me to just let the words flow. That’s what I am hoping to achieve with with writing 31 Days of Journaling Prompts. I’m keeping it simple so that I don’t get too overwhelmed.
If you’d like to join along, be sure to subscribe to my blog. I’d love to have a writing buddy 🙂
I’d love to join along in being writing buddies, but can’t do 31 days in a row in October. I have a project I am working on for a charity (for homeless cats) and have to blog at least once a week about that, plus another series I am starting soon for Fall. I could join in with some of it though! I will try to do 5 min. Friday every week as a start and then maybe we can do a few other things together. I was checking out your blog and noticed you do guest posts. Maybe what we could do is go with one of the words you pick, and then do a writing swap on one of them , or I don’t know…whatever you think 🙂 Will you do any link up parties during the 31 days? I guess that is another way I could occasionally write with you. Let me know if you have an idea of something and I will participate. Good luck on doing your 31 days! I will follow you on here via one of your networks.
I totally understand ot wanting to take on too much. I am guilty of doing that far too often. Just join in when you can 🙂
I think exchanging guest posts is a GREAT idea, especially your idea of trading our posts of a specific word of the day. I will send you an email with my list of words. After looking over your blog and Facebook, without a doubt a few of the words are going to be of interest to you.
I love your October plans for riasing awareness for homeless and feral cats. I’ll be sure to share some of your posts on my blog and Facebook to help you out.
Good job on the Five Minute Friday! I’ll admit, it’s hard sometimes, isn’t it? Coming up with thoughts? And then, if you’re anything like me, wondering if they are good enough. Oh, those 2 awful words: good enough. Good job, and keep writing! The challenge of 31 days is a big one, but do-able!
I struggle BIG TIME with feeling like my writing isn’t good enough. I have to remind myself to let go and just let the words flow out. I’m hoping that by keeping it simple with one-word prompts that I will be more likely not to stress over the ‘not good enough’ feeling.
Thank you for stopping by 🙂
Great post.
Thank you for your kind comment on my blog. I like your post very much because we all struggle I think as to whether what we have written is “good enough”, I know I do. What a great idea to pick a word every day and write with that prompt. Blessings.
Appreciate this post. Let me try it out.
